Rāpoka
The New Zealand Sealion or Rāpoka is the world's rarest sealion - numbers are estimated at approx. 12,000. While they live mainly in the sub-Antarctic islands (Campbell and Auckland) there are small populations on the southern mainland i.e. Stewart Island, Southland and Otago.
Sealions are pinnipeds characterised by external ear flaps.
