Photos from the Ghan
The Ghan crosses Australia ( north - south), from the fertile country around Adelaide to the rusty hues of the Red Centre and then to the tropical splendor of the Top End.
The Ghan is named after the Afghan cameleers who once traversed this route. It began in 1929, it is 1.1km long and is the longest passenger train in the world.
The modern suites with their wooden surroundings contrast to the fantastic retro-Edwardian décor of the dining car, all complete with panoramic windows for perfect observation make it a true luxury train.
