Rāpoka
The New Zealand Sealion or Rāpoka is the world's rarest sealion - numbers are estimated at approx. 12,000. While they live mainly in the sub-Antarctic islands (Campbell and Auckland) there are small populations on the southern mainland i.e. Stewart Island, Southland and Otago.
Sealions are pinnipeds characterised by external ear flaps.
The photos were taken in coastal Otago and Stewart Island.
